What causes a pelvis infection after a total hysterectomy and your insision to have puss coming out of it. ?

The doctor cut a 3 inch cut in my incision and I had a big hole in my stomach. They were putting four 4 by 4 gauges in in 3 times a day for 13 days and I had to wear a jp drain to drain the puss out of it.
