Miss America Faux Pas?

She didn't lose because of her beliefs. She lost because she didn't handle the situation appropriately. The question was do you think the other states should follow suit, not what is your personal opinion on gay marriage. The correct answer to that question would of been something like...I think that each state should vote on the issue because we live in a democratic country. She not only offended millions of people but she made a fool out of herself for being so ignorant. It doesn't matter what you believe, the point of an interview question in a pageant is to see how the contestant handles a situation on the spot and to see if they can do it with grace and poise. And she didn't so she lost.
