Ian Thorpe vs Michael Phelps ?

Thorpie has officially retired, so don't expect to see him in London. In Oz, he's pretty much a full-time TV personality, so I'd say his competitive swimming days are over. Would Phelps have won 8 gold, if Thorpe had been there? No way...he might have won 6 or 7, but which ever event Thorpe chose to focus on (eg. 400 or 200 free) he would have won comfortably. Thorpe was a phenominal swimmer, and if he trained hard for Beijing, he would have been unbeatable.
